I heard my sister wake up early this morning playing in her room.
Daddy had woken up early also, so that he could make breakfast for everyone. He made apple pancackes. I got applesauce, which is my favorite.
Mommy had to leave for work. She had new responsibilities today at City Hall.
Since Daddy was now the new Fire Captain, he didn't have to go into work until later. So, he went back to bed for a little more sleep.
Yellow Wings was back to take care of me when Daddy left for work. She brought with her something that she called a laptop computer. It had a magical screen like our television, and she showed me some colorful things on it that had letters, numbers, and animals.
It was not as fun as going outside, however. She sat me down in my swing and swung me gently. I enjoyed the sunshine and cool morning breeze. We didn't stay outside very long, though, because the air was getting warmer and warmer.
Daddy worked hard in keeping the fire engine and alarms maintained. Afterwards, he took advantage of the silence and laid down for a nap.
Thankful for any rest he could get, sure enough there was an emergency later that required his presence. It was not far from the station, so it was easier to run over to the house rather than pull out the fire engine.
It was a massive fire that spread throughout the house, and three people were trapped! Their lives were in danger! Daddy put out a good portion of the fire, so that he could safely rescue those inside.
He started with the garage as he hacked his way through the door.
One person had to be convinced to run for safety, because of the flames throughout the backyard. It took time and Daddy worked very late, but he saved the people and saved the house! He was a hero.
Mommy was a hero to me. She bathed me gently in water and bubbles. It was so much fun, and she enjoyed it too.
City Hall had an award to present to my father for his heroic deeds today, so he went there to accept before coming home.
Mommy was so proud of Daddy. She cuddled with me and told me how heroic he was and what he did today.
To show her appreciation, she cooked dinner for him. But she was very, very tired and unintentionally burned the stew.
Daddy was not angry, though. This was an important day for him, because he was The Hero of The Day! |

Looks like Dillon's dad is doing his job and getting recognized for it! Maybe one day they will be able to move out of that small place!
