It was another day of rain. It put another damper on our family plans, but it was not about to put a damper on our day. Temeka couldn't go out and play, but she could invite a friend over. That friend was Zack.
Daddy had watched the funny weather person on the magic screen to see if there would be any change in the weather we were having. Daddy said that we were going to have a special surprise tomorrow night if the weather person was right and we have no rain tomorrow.
Daddy left for a little while to go to the bookstore. He wanted to buy some books with yummy recipes and techniques on cooking. With all of the rain coming down, he felt this was the best opportunity to improve his skills in the kitchen. He really wanted to cook more for the family.
As they were playing, Temeka asked her friend Zack if he'd like to stay the night. Zack was excited and gladly accepted after calling his parents.
Their play moved from room to room around our small home. They were beating each other with pillows while I was trying to sleep. I thought they were hurting each other, and I wanted to cry. However, I was fascinated by their giggling and happiness. It looked like fun! I heard Zack say, "Hey, Temeka this is so much fun. Next weekend you need to come over to my place and stay the night!"
Mommy and Daddy couldn't do much with all the rain coming down, so they both spent time reading. Daddy was learning how to make different types of meals that he hopes to share with the family this week.
During a supper of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (something Zack really liked), Daddy asked Zack what he wanted to be when he grew up. Zack responded that he didn't really know and hoped that he never had to grow up. I think Sis tried not to roll her eyes.
Zack stayed the night with us. Mommy said he was welcome to sleep on the couch with the magic screen on, but not to stay up to late because he and Temeka had school tomorrow. |
