It was a rough Monday. Temeka must have found something under her bed, because she was sleeping on the couch.
She didn't sleep very well and wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. The shower broke as a result.
Daddy had a rough day at work. The fire engine was barely operational, so it crawed its way through town when an emergency came up.
The building across the street from the theater was overrun by a wild pack of llamas. Daddy was able to take care of the problem, but the delay in their arrival gave the llamas plenty of time to cause a lot of damage. Daddy felt helpless, because no one at the fire station was helping with the maintenance work.
My sister was encouraged to help out with the butterfly club at school. She stayed after school to play on the playground while looking for butterflies.
Daddy wasn't coming home tonight.
Marlon: "Hey dear, this last emergency we had took much longer than I thought. The station is a mess, everything is broken, and we have people coming in and out that shouldn't even be here. I need to stay the night, get some rest, and start the day tomorrow early so I can get this place in order. Meggan (over phone): "But why does it have to be you?" Marlon: "Honey, if I don't do this then the real victims will be our neighbors in this town." Meggan (over phone): "This is ridiculous! I'm heading back to work tomorrow at City Hall, and I'm going to get to the bottom of this even if it means people get fired!"
Mommy wanted to tell him that the shower was busted and that we needed it fixed. However, since he wasn't coming home, Mommy called for a mechanic to come fix it.
I certainly hope tomorrow is a better day, Marlon thought as he got ready for bed at the fire station. |
