Mommy and Daddy have made some improvements to our home with the money they have been making. Daddy was really liking our new dining room chairs and window clothing.
While Mommy was eating breakfast, Daddy was making speaker improvements to the music box.
One of the new machines that Mommy really liked was the dishwashing machine. She's hoping that this will put less strain on the sink so that it doesn't break so much, and Daddy won't be grumpy trying to fix it. But what if this new machine breaks instead?
Mommy sat down to watch the magic screen, but something went wrong and black smoke came from it and caused a dirty scent in the air.
Meggan: "Marlon! I am sick and tired of this stupid television! It's always breaking, and it just isn't worth fixing! Can we please get another TV? Marlon: "We'll have to wait until tomorrow, hun. Today is Leisure Day, and I want to take you and the kids to the festival for fireworks."
I'm not sure what Leisure Day means, but it sure sounds fun! Sis was playing a game called "hopscotch" with Mommy before she went to work. She said she was really upset about how Daddy caught on fire yesterday and there was no emergency shower that he could easily get to. She is making an emergency demand for the fire station where Daddy works to be upgraded and made more safe.
Daddy said he wasn't going in to work today. He took this day off to spend with us. Sis still had to go to school, but Daddy took me outside for a ride in my stroller to the festival.
As we were crossing the bridge into the center of town, Daddy said, "Look at the beautiful river under the bridge, Dillon." I had a hard time seeing it, but I could hear the water running. "Your sister likes to fish in that river. Maybe when you get older, I'll take you fishing. You'd like that wouldn't you, Dillon?"
I smiled and giggled at Daddy. Drop. What was that? Drop, drop. I think I feel some of the water from the river! Drop, drop, drop. Daddy? "That just figures!" he exclaimed. "It's a holiday and it's starting to rain!" Please don't be grumpy now, Daddy. We were starting to have fun.
Daddy was a little grumpy, but he wasn't about to let this rain get in the way of us having fun. We still went to the festival, and we watched Mommy pounding away on funny, green figures popping out of a machine. I thought it was funny to watch.
The food smelled so good! I smiled at Daddy. Maybe he'll get me some? He looked down at me with a smile, yet stern face. "Sorry, squirt. Your little tummy can't handle this kind of food yet." I think I'm going to cry.
At least I didn't go hungry. Daddy brought my bottle. Meanwhile, Sis finally found the moths that she wanted to collect for the science center. The wet weather must have brought them out of hiding.
Before we went home, Mommy and Daddy lit what they called firecrackers. It sizzled, made a woosh sound, and something shot in the air.
Boom! Pop! It was full of colors and sparkles. It was very pretty.
Leisure Day was a really fun day! I hope I can do more with Mommy and Daddy when I get older the next time this fun day comes back.
It wasn't all fun after going home, though. Sis was very sick. Mommy wasn't sure if it was because of the food at the festival, or because we were out in the rain. Sis said she didn't want to miss school tomorrow, because they were going on another field trip to the cemetary. Isn't that the spooky place near our house with the colored, floating people? |
