Day 1: Sis Messes Up

My first day started off in the bedroom of my mother and father. They were fast asleep dreaming of their careers, as I was sitting uncomfortable in my crib in a wet diaper.

My body is so small, my hands tiny - I couldn't change my own diaper if one was within my reach. Assuming there was one within reach. I can't really see that far, since my eyes aren't fully developed. All I could do was shout, since they couldn't understand my language.
Ahhh, thanks Mommy! That feels better. I'm feeling lonely, please spend time with me. Sorry daddy. I know you needed sleep before reporting to work, but I didn't know of any other way to get mommy's attention.
Besides, I had bad dreams of boogeymen floating around outside our home.
And they were very close to home too!
The morning started off rough for my family. Daddy slept in longer than he wanted (a crying baby in the middle of the night can do that to you), so he needed to get bathed and dressed quickly, so that he could have a simple breakfast of cereal before going to work to fight fires.
Daddy has an important job with the fire department and helps to keep others safe, just like me, mommy, and sis.
Speaking of Sis, she was running late for school. Well, she was PURPOSELY running late. She didn't really want to go. She took her sweet time getting dressed and getting a bowl of cereal - pretending that she didn't know what time it was.
Mommy wasn't fooled. I got a firsthand look of mommy scolding Temeka about skipping school. Sis wouldn't admit it, but I could tell from the look in her eyes.
Daddy didn't have a good day at work. Nobody bothered to maintain the fire engine, and he had to get it working before an emergency happened.
And sure enough, one did. One could hear my father cursing, because he couldn't get the vehicle fully maintenanced beforehand.
There was no time to complain; daddy was needed! Off the fire engine went with its sirens blaring a warning to anyone who might be on the street to move aside quickly.
Mr. Swain was doing something with his truck in his garage and wasn't careful. It had started a fire, but thankfully daddy got there in time to put it out and save Mr. Swain's truck and garage. Daddy was recognized by his efforts of getting the fire engine fixed in just enough time to respond to the emergency, and he was promoted!
After my sister came home from school, she struggled with her homework. She didn't pay attention in school, so it meant less time to play when she got home. Mommy made sure she did her homework and even checked it several times. Sis sure was cranky by the end of the day!
Daddy had worked later than normal today, so that the fire engine could be completely repaired and fully functional.

Marlon: "Hi sweetheart, I'm home. Sorry I'm late, but there was so much work that had to be done."

Meggan: "I love you, hun. We had some problems here too. The sink busted in the bathroom, and I haven't been able to make dinner because of it. We have some leftover Macaroni & Cheese, though."

Daddy really wasn't looking forward to fixing something else that was broken, but he really was the handyman around the house and very good at it too. After a quick meal, he was too tired to stay awake. Mommy stayed awake late, but she was soon in bed too after she checked on me. Sis did get a little time to play with her bear before bed.

I had dreams of a bright, full moon with dead zombies coming to get me. Please make these dreams something different! I don't want to scream!

  1. Oh! I've never read a legacy that started from a baby! This is going to be tough though(at least it would be for me) I can barely play through three generations on the normal lifespan :P

I do think it is a great idea though since it is the story of just one person.

  2. The baby phase is 64 days long, so I'll certainly be ready to move to the next stage of life after that. For now, I can spend time with the other members of the family and see how the story develops with them. Eventually, Dillon will grow up, go to college, and move to a place of his own. It's the adventure of getting there that will be most interesting.

  5. Thank you, Zhippidy and Axyrius. I hope you can both stick with the story. You are right, 5 years is a long time. This story is very much like a soap opera but with an ending. Take it one day at a time. Some days will have a lot going on and other days not so much. I'm still very curious to see where this story goes myself. :-)
