Day 5: Fairies & Butterflies

Daddy can be really grumpy after he wakes up in the morning, and it can last all day. It especially doesn't help when he sleeps in a cheap bed at the fire station. They provide us safety, and the city gives them cheap beds? That doesn't seem very fair.
Perhaps that is one out of many things my mommy can fix with the government as she goes back to work today. She's very determined and can be quite persuasive. But who will take care of me?
Mommy called for a babysitter, and I believe she just arrived.
Before she gets here, I thought I would mention a little bit more about my father. He stayed at the station overnight to get an early start on maintenance work. He wanted to make sure everything was in top condition before coming back home.
The babysitter is here, and she... doesn't look like Mommy and Daddy at all. She's got pretty, yellow wings. She's smiling at me too. She looks like someone out of my dreams.
And she's changing my diaper. Well... thank you. I was a bit wet and uncomfortable, but this feels rather odd too because you aren't my mommy. She's not a monster, right? I think I'll go back to talking about my Daddy.
He worked hard to get the fire engine back up, and he managed it in time before another fire broke out. Are people really that careless in Moonlight Falls? I hope a fire doesn't start here in my home... or my crib! A better stop thinking of that; I don't want nightmares. The babysitter with yellow wings is smiling at me again. What's her name? Not mommy... I think I'll call her, Yellow Wings.
Back to Daddy, he had to travel in the rain to get to the emergency. Daddy walked with confidence, knowing he'd be able to save these citizens.
And saved he did. His upgraded fire extinguisher had colored water, or something like water. It worked better than water, because the fire was out in no time.
Mommy had a productive day at work. She filed a report about the horrible staffing at the fire station, and several lost their jobs today. Sadly, it meant that Daddy was not coming home again because he was needed at the station until new people were hired. Daddy was okay with this, because it meant that the lazy people were now out of his way.
Mommy didn't come straight home, though. She went to a SimFest. I heard her grumbling about it later, because it wasn't very good. Will more people lose their jobs? Mommy knows best.
She was on her way home later than I expected, but it gave me and Yellow Wings time to bond. Will she take care of me tomorrow?

My sister was intrigued with Yellow Wings.

Temeka: "Hi miss. Are you a butterfly?"

Yellow Wings (chuckles): "No, sweetie. I am a fairy."

Temeka: "Oh."

Temeka was rather disappointed, and then she said,

Temeka: "I'm looking for butterflies to collect for a school project."

Yellow Wings: "Let me tell you a secret about butterflies..."

After Yellow Wings had left, Mommy and Sis were having dinner together. Sis had just finished washing her plate.

Temeka: "The babysitter was a nice lady, Mom. She gave me some ideas to help with my butterfly project."

Meggan: "That was nice of her."

Temeka: "When is Dad coming home?"
Meggan sighed.

Meggan: "He will be home tomorrow, I hope. He has to stay another night to get the station back up in full, working order. At my job today, I convinced the other politicians that we needed a new staff there. We hope to have some new personnel in place there tomorrow, so your father can have a break."
Temeka: "Can you help me with my homework, Mom? I just don't get what they were saying in school today."

Meggan: "Sure! Let me sit down here next to you, and we'll work on it together."

My sister had a problem with homework. She also had a problem paying attention in class.

  1. It must be hard for the baby to make sense of everything around him. His family seems nice and stable, other than Daddy's grumpiness :)

  2. Yeah, the grumpy trait is a bit annoying at times, but then again I didn't want to have a perfect sim. That's why I went with the first traits that came up when I created the family. It's random for me, thus, it makes the characters interesting to me as a writer. It's kind of funny when he screams in anger when things don't go his way.
