Prologue: Meet Sis

This is my big sister, Temeka.

I love her, but I can't understand her at times. She can be so mean and cruel, and it bothers me. I've seen her compassionate and kind at times. She even has a pretty smile. All of that seems for naught though, because her mean acts outweigh her kind ones.

She enjoys practical jokes and pranks, and she seems to feed off of the energy of one pulled on her. I would even go so far to suggest NOT doing a practical joke on my sister, because she'll get you back even WORSE than the first time. She craves attention, and I think that is the real reason. She does not like being ignored.

Some would say that she's just being a kid and will grow out of it eventually. I hope they are right.

Prologue: Meet Mom

Meet my mother.

Her name is Meggan. She is darker in complexion than my father and very beautiful. She uses her beauty to influence town politics. Mom certainly has a vision on how things should be run, especially in our home. They say the dad is typically the head of the household, but you would think otherwise if you saw my mom in action. She fights until she gets what she wants at home and in City Hall. And what she wants is always right in her eyes.

Some would see this as mean-spirited, but honestly she just wants what is best for her family and the community. She doesn't want to harm anyone and feels that everyone should be happy and free of trouble. But it has to be done her way. She has seen what it is like now, and what the current politicians are trying to change it to. Some of it is good and most of it is not, Mom thinks. She's pretty sure she can get everyone to see her point of view without question, eventually. It's just a matter of time.

Prologue: Meet Dad

Meet my father.

His name is Marlon, and he's a firefighter. He serves the community like his father before him, and his father before him. Serving the community has run in the family, such as my great, great grandfather serving in SimNation's Army and defending our country.

He can be a bit grouchy at times, but I think it might be a result of his stressful job. I also think he dreams of another life other than the one he felt obligated to live. Even so, he's an honorable man and has been awarded by the city council several times for his heroic efforts.

Welcome to Dillon's Story!

Editor's Note:

Welcome friends to the life and legacy of Dillon Tempest.

This is going to be a rather interesting story that I am going to write using "The Sims 3" and its expansion/stuff packs. Each of the life stages for sims and pets can be adjusted, so I thought it might be interesting to extend ALL of the them to the max. This extends a sim's life to 1,928 days, assuming nothing tragic happens. I thought I would take this a step further and play this sim family one sim day (from midnight to midnight) for every REAL day of life starting on January 1, 2013.

Why? Well, why not? A great story is one which takes time to tell and isn't rushed. It gives you time to get to know the characters, experience their life, their accomplishments, and their frustrations. Just like a good book, you form an attachment to the characters and they become like friends or even family to you. That is the purpose of this story. To take the time and really dig in to the game and the characters within.

My real life is busy and hectic enough, but this story and blog gives me a way to relax and play my favorite video game a little each day and share what happens with you.

To make it as interesting to myself and to you, all sims involved have been made with random settings. The mother and father were created based on the first option that came up in Create-A-Sim. Although I made some adjustments to their features, their personality traits were all chosen by random. This is to keep me from favoring one trait over another and allows for interesting drama and storytelling. Great characters tell their own story, and that is the goal here. I chose their lifetime wish based on a combination of their five personality traits. I used genetics to create the older sister and random personality traits for her as well. Free Will has been increased to maximum to allow for interesting possibilities, but I will be controlling them as well since there are many things that can be done in the game.

One great benefit of taking the time to tell this story is that all expansion and stuff packs for Sims 3 should be released before Dillon becomes an adult. This means that we'll be able to follow him through college and any other adventure that comes out as an expansion (vacation, business, etc.) Until then, we'll get to learn all about Dillon's family.

The story begins in Moonlight Falls, although the story could take us anywhere. There are many neighborhoods (or worlds) that we can import the family to, so this will add to the adventure of the story.

Until the story begins in January, we will learn the basics about Dillon's family.
